Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Audit Leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a good auditing background with other accounting experience in financial reporting. The Audit Leader will take a pivotal role in the audit of clients and also provide financial insights, prepare complex accounts, and assist in the mentoring and development of our expanding audit and assurance team.  The role is an excellent opportunity for career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Auditing:
    • Planning and executing audits for a varied client portfolio, ensuring compliance with UK auditing standards.
    • Conducting risk assessments and evaluating internal controls.
    • Keep up to date with changes in audit regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Financial Statements & Reporting:
    • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines for annual filings.
    • Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Taxation and advisory:
    • Prepare and review corporate tax computations for clients.
    • Provide partner support in business advisory services, including structuring, and compliance advice.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise and mentor junior members of the audit and assurance team to support their development and technical guidance to improve team performance.
  • Systems & Process Improvement:
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and systems to enhance the efficiency of our audits and overall client service.
    • Contribute to the enhancement of client relationships.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    • Between final year and say 2-year PQE of ACA or ACCA (or equivalent). Qualified by experience candidates should also apply.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
    • Strong knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
    • Proven ability to conduct audits as well as prepare and review financial statements in line with UK GAAP.
    • Experience supervising and mentoring junior auditors.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, taxation, and financial reporting, with a focus on working within an accountancy practice. The Senior Accountant will provide support in managing a diverse client portfolio, prepare financial accounts and cover various aspects of taxation.  The candidate will also assist in the mentoring and development of junior team members.  The role provides an excellent opportunity for career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Management:
    • Provide support to our directors in the management of a portfolio of clients, including individuals, SMEs, and larger businesses across various sectors.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for client queries, delivering excellent service and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Financial Statements & Reporting:
    • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines for annual filings and tax submissions.
  • Taxation:
    • Prepare and review corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and personal tax returns for clients.
    • Provide partner support in tax advisory services, including tax planning, structuring, and compliance advice.
    • Keep up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and advise clients accordingly.
  • Management Accounts & Advisory:
    • Lead on the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts, offering insights on performance and helping clients make informed decisions.
    • Assist clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning.
    • Provide business advisory services, including profitability analysis and strategic financial advice.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Assist in the development of new and junior team members through supervision and mentoring, providing technical guidance to improve team performance.
    • Review and oversee the work of junior staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with practice standards.
  • Systems & Process Improvement:

The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, taxation, and financial reporting, with a focus on working within an accountancy practice. This is an opportunity to experience career progression. The Semi-Senior Accountant will be providing a supportive role to managers across a diverse client portfolio which will see you working across a range of taxes and accounts across a range of sectors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Client Management:
    • Maintain clients’ financial records by using the latest digital software (e.g., Xero and QuickBooks) and innovative tools / apps.
    • Serve as a point of contact for client queries, delivering excellent service and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Support in the new client on-boarding process and ensure excellent client relationships are delivered from the beginning.
  • Financial Statements & Taxation:
    • Prepare full working papers and produce financial statements for non-audit limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships from the accounting records of our clients.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines for annual filings and tax submissions.
    • Prepare corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and personal tax returns for clients.
  • Team Development:
    • Support and mentor apprentice accountants as well as your peers to improve team performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    • AAT or studying for ACA or ACCA (or equivalent). Those meeting the criteria but who are not studying are welcome to apply.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice, with exposure to a diverse client portfolio.
    • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
    • Knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations.
    • Proven ability to prepare financial statements, tax returns, VAT returns for manager review.
